Teamwork

Working on an editorial brief for The Ride Journal at the moment. The piece is about teamwork within a race. The race in the article is held in South Africa so I've been looking at patterns from Basotho painted houses.

Rooms

I've been looking a lot at pattern, especially 1950s designers like Lucienne Day. I've also been sort of continuing with my last project and looking at rooms. I did these paintings for my mum for her birthday as she loves all things 50s. I incorporated some of the 50s furniture and patterns we have in our house and created some 'dream rooms' for her. I have already had one commision to do another of these for someone so if anyone else would like a 'dream room' please contact me :)

Haven't put anything up for ages so here are some images from my current project which started off as just looking at rug patterns but has kind of developed into something else.

Binding

I've got a really bad habit of doodling all over my work which my tutors usually find more interesting than the actual work. So I thought i'd use my doodles as the binding design for 'The Bloody Chamber and Other Stories'. Going to be entering the 3 illustrations and binding into the Folio Society competition.

Company of Wolves

Final illustration for the Company of Wolves.

Charlie

Should be doing real work but instead I did a portrait of my brother.

The Bloody Chamber

My final illustration for 'The Bloody Chamber' by Angela Carter.

'You never saw such a wild thing as my mother, her hat seized by the winds and blown out to sea so that her hair was her white mane, her black lisle legs exposed to the thigh, her skirts tucked around her waist; one hand on the reins of the rearing horse while the other clasped my father service revolver and, behind her, the breakers of the savage, indifferent sea, like the witnesses of a furious justice.’

New Blog.

So I'm moving all my stuff over from my tumblr and starting this new blog.
